21 July 2005 - 26 September 2005
On 18 August 2005, composer Peter Kreuder would have turned 100 years old.
His countless hits are unforgotten, although many of them were written more than 60 years ago. "Ich brauche keine Millionen", "Good bye, Jonny", "Ich wollt′ ich wär′ ein Huhn", "Sag beim Abschied leise Servus", "Wenn die Sonne hinter den Dächern versinkt" and "Ich werde jede Nacht von Ihnen träumen" are just some of his evergreens.
Peter Kreuder′s last wife Ingrid entrusted the composer′s estate to Filmmuseum Potsdam on 21 July 2005.
The composer who created a large number of true world hits for German and international cinema was honoured with a foyer exhibition, a commemorative event and a film series. He was one of the first to pave the way for jazz music in Germany. Moreover, Peter Kreuder introduced the European classical music heritage to South America and made it popular there.
We would like to thank Ingrid Kreuder, Michael Borge (Edition Meisel GmbH) and Bert Beel for making the exhibition possible.
Items from Peter Kreuder′s estate – such as handwritten sheets of music, photos, posters, his conductor′s baton, documents, awards and letters – were presented in the exhibition.
