Judging from the current status of their evaluation, the documents provide reliable information on more than 4,000 technical objects as well as on all big and many small companies of the sector.
Especially the firm biographies of Zeiss Ikon / VEB Pentacon Kamera- und Kinowerke Dresden, Arnold & Richter (ARRI) Munich, Eugen Bauer Stuttgart, Meopta Prerov (Czechia), André Debrie and Eclair Paris have been densely documented with material. Besides the Zeiss Ikon conglomerate and its successors, the renowned Dresden film and cinema technology industry is represented by firms like Unger & Hoffmann, Heinrich Ernemann AG, Deutsche Kinematographenwerke (Fridolin Kretzschmar), Ica AG, Clamann & Grahnert and Filmosto (VEB Aspecta).
A special stock comprises documents on Russian / Soviet devices and manufacturers. The museum is particularly proud to hold special documents on DEFA technology plus records of its use. Such information makes it possible to give a relatively accurate account of the technical equipment used for DEFA feature film productions.
